Body psychotherapy with Dirk Plas

Body-oriented psychotherapy

Embrace life with all its challenges

Our bodies are incredible tools for feeling, moving, expressing, and living. They hold a wealth of information about our daily well-being.

Life is not just experienced through our thoughts; our bodies play a crucial role as well. Often, when we veer off course, it's because we've learned to disregard the signals our bodies emit. Over the years, I've come to understand that loving my body and listening to its wisdom directly enhances my quality of life.

In therapy, the body is an indispensable tool we harness. During our sessions, there will be a dedicated space for you to embrace whatever emerges in the moment.

Unlike traditional 'talk' therapy, our sessions are highly experiential, although we will engage both body and mind. Throughout our work, we will draw inspiration from Core Energetics, Polyvagal theory, breathwork, and more.

Our sessions will be intuitive and may encompass a range of activities, such as:

  • Physical exercises

  • Sharing space

  • Constellations

  • Self-massage of specific muscles

  • Breathing exercises

  • Cathartic experiences

  • Nonverbal vocalizations

  • Journaling

  • Dance

Our therapeutic journey begins with an intake session. During this initial meeting, we will personally get to know each other, review an intake form completed by you, and conduct a body reading. After we both feel that continuing our work together is the right path, I will ask for a commitment to at least five weekly or fortnightly sessions. Following this commitment period, we will evaluate whether this therapy approach aligns with your needs and goals. Please note that this commitment is intended as an intention, not a contract, as it provides the time needed to assess the therapy's impact.
